Embrace the Shake

Regardless of your canvas of choice, innovation is an artform in and of itself. Join artist Phil Hansen as he shares his journey of overcoming obstacles and discovering that limitations can become the passageway to creativity.

About the Speaker:

Referred to by his fans as “the Artist for the People”, Phil Hansen is an internationally recognized multimedia artist, speaker, author and innovator -- at the forefront of bringing art to a wider audience. Crashing irreverently through conventional boundaries, Phil works at the intersection of traditional art, electronic media, offbeat materials, and interactive experiences.

For the tens of millions who have seen Phil’s art on TV and online, it’s hard to imagine that his artistic journey nearly came to an end when a tremor developed in his drawing hand. In exploring new ways to create art, Phil discovered that by embracing his shake, limitations could become the passageway to creativity.

His inspirational story was first shared on the TED stage to a standing ovation, and then shared around the world including on PBS, BBC and CCTV.

Phil’s ability to draw parallels to the business setting has won him followers among industry and business leaders, leading to invitations to speak at the TED2013 conference, Adobe MAX Creativity Conference, World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates, and the Million Dollar Round Table.

Tasting Notes Experience Room

Does what you hear influence what you taste? In this dynamic session we are partnering with the Washington State University Sensory Science Center and Philadelphia's most sought after musical ensemble to understand the correlation between sound and taste. This session will explore how different styles of music impact the basic taste perceptions of chocolates while entertaining you with beautiful sounds and captivating imagery that will leave you inspired. 

Panoptic Palette of Possibilities Experience Room

The Panoptic Palette of Possibilities Experience Room is designed to fill your palette with creative ideas and inspiration for future product development! This experience room will showcase Panoptic, a proprietary foresight tool with immersion into trend-driven innovation, through artfully crafted concept tastings and interactive activities.

As a pillar in the Philadelphia arts scene since 1805, The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts has a rich history in celebrating art and artists alike.
